Is it possible to order whole cabs?

I want to restore my truck. Ive been working on it for some time and mechanically the truck runs great. However the body is incredibly bad. I dont have any real skill in body work and i cant weld. So is it possible to order an entire cab, with floor pans? I know it would probably be expensive and shipping is probably gonna be a pain but im ready for it.

depending on your year/model you can probably find good used rust free parts to use. There are alot of replacement panels out there also, but i doubt enough to build a whole new cab.

Where can you find some one to do that acid dipping.

and yes you can find new fiberglass cabs. What year is your truck?

I am thinkng about ordering a fiberglass cab for my 1956. It has the big back window, comes with doors, dashboard, glove box.

Those things are high dollar. but it saves time, and time is money. So it saves you money also.

fiberglass bodys are a pain. fiberglass settles really bad so the whole cab could change shape and it is not very durabe but very light. you will have to ask around about the acid dipping.

I6power ~ I just sent you a personal email, as some things can't be done in the forum.

Cheers...

I'll echo GasHog saying that fiberglass is not the best choice for a cab. Fiberglass is best suited for stuctures that need to be strong AND have GIVE!! A truck cab needs to be stiff. Unless your truck is a trailer queen that will never see a speed bump or pot hole, then your fiberglass cab will flex, creating stress points that will crack and break. And if the cab flexes enough, you can break your windows.

Find a clean donor truck its your best bet $ wise, I couldent belive it when my buddy got a brand new 79 cab from Ford he got it through a commercial truck dept or fleet division or some place like that it was meant for an F-600 I think. This was in 1990 so I doubt any are left, It was cool though palletized and wrapped in Ford plastic like a time warp. Good luck!
