Drivetrain noises?

I have a 2003 F-150 2wd that sometimes makes a grinding noise when pulling away from a stop. It will happen either going straight or turning left, but very infrequently. Have had it in the shop once already but the Ford dealer couldnt find aything. Does anyone have an idea as to the problem? thanks.

Maybe grab a buddy and have him or her sit in the box and listen while you drive(slowly for safety). Did this in my old truck and found out the rear end was toast other wise I couldnt tell where the noise was from while drive on my own. Alot of moving parts underneath so sometimes its tricking to pinpoint the source of the problem. Hope this helps.

There are threads covering this, one I remember said that there is a special lubricant for the prop shaft end that slide into the tranny, lube itand they say that will fix the problem if the noise is comming from there. If not have you checked the rear diff for the proper fluid level. do you have any leaks? What if you jacked up the the rear in and turn it by hand see if you hear anything?
