Power Steering Leak Help?

Hello all you nice people! After replacing the pump and hoses she still leaks. For the life of me I can't determine where she's leaking from. As always, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

BTW, she's going into semi-retirement after today (bought new in '95) when I pick up our new grocery getter...... a Freestyle Limited!

Ah...Here are some clues from my first post-Aerostar forum, bought new in '95. What else do you need to know?

96_4wdr the answer to your question would be never. I guess it's time then? Is it a big job?

OK I'm going to buy a remanufactured rack at Advanced for $68. How hard could it be? I've replaced everything else so it must be that...right? Thanks for the tip!

Hi manasota:

Welcome to the forum. What 2tone was trying to ask was the year, the model (4WD, 2WD, extended cab or not, engine size, etc...). The reason is that the rack removal procedure differ greatly between the 2WD and the 4WD model.

If you have the 2WD model, it's a lot easier.

I guess I should have been more specific. I was just trying to find out what else could possibly leak besides the pump and hoses. You see, I'm not much of a mechanic but I can turn wrenches and usually manage to fix things if I know what's wrong with it. It's the trouble shooting that I have problems with.

You are getting a Freestyle? I think that is a very bad idea, unless your idea of fun is frequent expensive transmission maintenance. If you decide to get one, pick either a standard transmission, or a regualar automatic if it is available. The Freestyle comes standard with a CVT transmission, the design has never been reliable.
