i installed the MAC air induction(cold air) into my truck like a month or so ago. It made a noticable improvment in performance. It pulls harder once the rpms are high. So basicly after about 3.5k rpms in 1st hear to 80pmh it pulls hard. also you engine will be a little louder as well as exaust since it is takin a lot more air in. You will be able to hear it "moan" when u start it cold for a little while. Also at higher rpms you will hear it sucking the hell out of air. for only $140, i would say do it. the KandN filter wasnt rated as highly as the mac intake and it costed about $100 more.
I race my truck at the 1/4 mile last night and my best time was a 17.778. W/o intake i wouldnt of gotta under 18.0 for sure.

Supposedly the newer composite upper intakes are fabricated to squeeze a few more ponies out of the vulcan. I would think that they run a little cooler than their predecessors, as well. In any case, if you are thinking about swapping in a newer upper intake, you need to pick up "the complete composite upper from a '02 and later Ranger or '01 and later Taurus/Sable. Make sure to get everything, intake, TB, air inlet hoses, clamps, throttle cable, etc. as these will make it a truely bolt-in mod..." (As described by Boss 3.0)
