Smile Change brake light bulb 98 Ford Explorer

Can anyone tell me how to change the bulb-I took the two screws out but the housing would not come off-I'm afraid if I force it I will break it-I'm sure there's a simple solution but I can't seem to find it. Thanks for any help I can get.

I have no idea, but it should tell you how to do it in your owners manual.

I have a 97 XLT, probably the same. Remove all the screws. Pull straight back, you WILL think it's gonna break something but there are prongs in retainers that hold it in place. Once the lens assy is off it's a pc of cake. To install, line up the prongs, push the assy in, put in screws, and you're done.

Thanks for the help!

Just wanted to say thanks for the info-everything worked out like you said it would-I'm glad this site is out there because I searched all day trying to get an answer to this-couldn't see taking it in for just a bulb.--

By the way, its not in the owner's manual "87 XLT"- but thanks.

I now know where to come if I need help-thanks again

Your very welcome, glad I could help. I've gotten a lot of help here, too, I'm just giving back.
