F150 ABS Light

Need some help with the ABS light on my 2000 F150 4x4. The light comes on when I start the vehicle. But if I put my foot on the brake when I start the truck the light does not come on. When I release brake pressure light comes on. I've replaced all 4 wheels pads, bled brakes, and checked basic wiring to sensors and module. Any ideas?

Check the sending unit on the brake petal, there should be one maybe two see if there is a defective switch or a broken wire. you have to get under the dash and look at the brake arm you will see it there. If not then the issue may be on the master cylinder check for abroken wire.

Can't think of anything else at this time hope it works out.

Thanks for the reply. There is one switch/sending unit on the brake pedal with a 5 pin connector. Wiring and pins look OK. Also the Brake lights work OK. But with the Connector disconnected the ABS light does not come on(?). Switch and wiring on the master cylinder looks OK, was recently changed as part of the recall. Do you know if there are resistance/continuity checks I can do to checkout the switches?

not sure with five wires usually with two wires connectors it very easy to test. sounds like you may have found the problem. Only guessing though. I son't want to make you waste money.

I had the same problem. The sensor on my ABS pump had gone out.

I had to replace the whole pump. It cost about $400. The check engine light came on but I dont know the code.
