comeing back to the club.

ok well i just aquired an 89 ranger 2.3 4 spd overdrive. not a bad truck but engine is wore out in it. in the next few weeks ill replace the engine but my question is regarding the 91 3.0 5spd rangers.

how wer they as far as power goes? were they fast like a v6 should be or is the lil 4 banger better. i know a 3.0 taurus is slow but how about the 3.0 ranger with a 5spd?

the 3.0L is not much better than the 4 bangers, if you want a 6 cylinder, go with the 4.0L.

My 2wd 5spd with a 3.0 gets up and goes pretty good. My freinds 2wd edge 3.0 with an auto is kinda slow.

well im not looking for a race truck but a fairly quick truck. and with it being a king cab the last thing i want is a 2.3 . im most concerned with the reliability of it because for 2600 the thing better last a while lol.

ok well i told the guy im gonna buy it and we worked out the deal (i haven't been able to make it back to him since i've been killin the ovetime clock at work lol) and i did drive it. holy **** man that thing was quick. burned em going into second and jerked em hard in thrid. i was needless to say very very impressed. 80k on the odo almost flawless body and awsome interior. so she's gonna be in my driveway in a few weeks. that thing was just purely awsome for a 3.0 and omg fun to drive. the fast gears didn't seem so bad with that engine. i messed up and drove like a four banger pulling out with him watching and turned over big time. i mean holy crap dude. it really did shock me so yeah im buying it. i know it was faster than most s-10's and well any 4 banger i have ever drivin.

Glad to see you like it. Yeah the 3.0 is pretty quick as long as its a 5 speed. As far as s-10's go, dont race the 4.3 v6, my buddies truck will beat mine, not by that much, but enough to not be a good race.

eh ill take care of that :P actually im sure i could easily take care of that. all i have to do is push 5 psi into it from an inter cooler and i can come up with the parts for that. of course i would set it up to spool up fast. 5 psi would be enough to put it over the top and still be safe :P
