Went to goodguys today
Hey guys! I went to the Good Guys car show in Puyallup Washingotn today. Man, Now I remember why I dont like that show....Too many well to do people with vehicles WAY out of my league who take one look at what I have done so far, and snicker and point. Dont do that, pull me asside and tell me about my mistakes and ask if it was intentional. Most of the thime, it was. Or if you have a better way of doing something, tell me about it and I will consider it....But don't laugh at me and my creation like it is the plague and you are the only one with the cure. I personally like it the way it is....I can drive it ANYWHERE and I dont have to worry about rock chips or door dings. If I get hit, I can have almost ANY shop fix it. It doesnt have to go to a specialist.
Now, dont get me wrong, I like the creations the guys have there, and their rides are some of the nicest, but man.....Have a little respect for someone trying to come up in that world, or that world will soon die.
They had a special section set asside for Good Guys members under 25. There were about 10 vehicles there. Out of the hundreds that were there, thats pretty sad.
Building cars up is a rich mans hobby thats for sure....And thats too bad, because it's so fun. But what I REALLY like to do is meet them at the track with my cars, and whoop up on their $120,000 slugs with my $2400 primer black beasts. Then who has the bragiing rights? My vehicles are functional....Theirs arent....There are a few that have the go to match the show, but not many.

I went to the Custom Hotrod Show over here at the Cow Palace.
I know what you're talking about in terms of the show cars being just that, show cars.
They don't drive them; nothing. They maybe perfect but you can't drive them.
Sure there was/is a lot of work and tons of money involved. But you can't drive them.
They were however courteous/proud in talking to you about there vehicles.
There was a section downstairs where they had cars that were more like the ones we fix and drive. That was real cool.
A blue collar vehicle.
And you could drive them, as well as many of them did to bring them to the show.

And thats the way a car show SHOULD be. REAL people who have REAL problems and real finances. Most of the people who are decent at the shows, have a reason for building up the car they built up. A reason other than they had the money to do it. Something along the lines of "My dad had one when I grew up and he died a few years ago, so this is my tribute to him" or something like that. more ranting.
