Performance Cap and Rotor sets.

Is there really any noticable difference in performance when changing between the standard and lets say the Accel or MSD high performance cap and rotors or are you just paying for the name?

Your mostly paying for the name. Finding caps with copper points is always the way to go.

I might be mistaken but dont you mean brass? I have never seen a dist cap with copper contacts. also stay away from the clear plastic caps the light show might look neat but they are worthless for performance. the red colored caps hold up the best to high voltage and are less prone to arching or tracking

I like the Standard Ignition Blue Streak set. The cap's center contact is an enclosed, thick pin with a coil spring behind it. Won't pop off like the cheap graphite nubs most use.

Good question. I had the same questions when prepping for a tune up the other day. I went with the Taylor wires and Accel cap/rotor. My 94 Bronco starts up now w/o a miss, but I'm not surprised ... the points in my cap were well worn and all equipment was OE. They were due!

I also put in Bosch platinum 2 plugs, probably not worth the extra ten bucks, but I got em anyway. Have yet to get on the highway but doubt I'll see anything noticeable.
