Well Dudes-
I picked it up this morning. Def have some work to do but it drives straight and is fairly solid. Not bad either, I picked her up for 3k. I need to get the fuel gauge fixed and get the engine tuned up, check out the radiator for starters. I posted the new pics from this afternoon in da' gallery. =)

Welcome Joe, To answer your question, if I were you, I would be less intrested in what engine the truck has. And more concerned with the condition of the body and interior. I spent a year of almost every night and weekends working to get the body straight and rusted panels replaced. I could have done an engine swap in a week provided I had all the parts on hand. Just my 2 cents

Joe, I just saw your truck "LUCY" in your gallery...SWEET !
I noticed the smoothies on it...what size are they front and back? I am putting the same style rims on my 54 and was wondering so I could get an idea of the way mine will look. I have 15 x 10's with 4 inch backspacing for my rear...front not purchased yet.
also, what type of suspension are you running front and back..any lowering done?
thanks for the info..Ed

I'm pretty happy with it, I thought it was a pretty good deal overall. There are the little things that need to be fixed, but then it wouldn't be a project... I am going through the catalogs looking for disc brake kits and power steering stuff. While I know a decent amount I have never done this work before so I'm not sure what to expect. Brakes are kinda important so I might take it to someone...maybe. It drives pretty tight for stock steering, apparently there was a rebuild one time but who knows. The deal is done and the next step is to get it up to par so I can drive it around and not worry bout it dying on the road.
It drives but its been sitting for a while, ehh at least this time I have a nice car on the side. =) Any tips on power steering setups? Maybe I'll do some searches on this site.. or for local people around LA.

The Toyota 4x4 pickup PS box is the most popular. The boxes are available used or rebuilt, are not difficult to find or expensive and the mount and other needed parts that make it a bolt in swap are available individually and as a complete kit from suppliers like Mid Fifty. You can source the PS pump and brackets for your engine from a parts yard.
I'd suggest calling Mid Fifty and ask for a catalog, it has a wealth of useful info and pictures besides just a listing of parts and they are great people to deal with.
