Starts than dies

I got my engine all put back together and filled fluids It starts really load and goes back and forth from 1krpm to 2krpm then goes down to about 1.5k and just goes back and forth between rpm's.I know for sure I have to reposition the desiributor cause when I took it out I thought I I had marked the block and the distributor correctly ,but I did'nt some how and now shes running crazy and might have to also to tightin up my whole exhaust system shouldn't really be a prblem though but other than that I just had a really long 3 days and sorry if this post is confusing

If you can get a timing light. You did not say if it was EFI or Carbed. Don't mess around with it. Get the right tools and GETT"ER DONE!

Well my truck is EFI and I got a timing light but I looked in haynes mannual for the correct firing order and I hooked it all up in the order they say but its still missfiring like crazy was woundering if anyone had the correct firing order for a96 Bronco XLT 351W EFI automatic trans thank you

There are really only 2 firing orders that have been around for a long time one for a 302 and one for a 351. I would check wires, yes again and plugs. Also try starting your truck at night in a very dark spot and look for the fireworks (shorts) coming from the plugs or wires. I had a problem on my truck, it ran only on advanced timing but that was it. Ended up being the coil??? K.I.S.S. it! Keep It Simple Stupid just a saying that has saved my A$$ a few times (no offense).
