MineralStang is starting off with a positive reputation.
Engine had a greasy oily meltdown...how do I clean the chassis?

Hey everybody, I recently had a rebuilt 390 swapped in to my '76 F-250 after I bought the truck and the old motor was toast. It looks like it had been spewing oil and grime for awhile and probably failed at one point spewing oil everywhere on the chassis. That means the engine compartment and the front chassis components are all covered in what looks like a huge oil spill. Is there any way to try and get this stuff off? You can't really see it unless you look under the hood or under the truck but I really want to get all this sludge off of the parts under the truck. Its a real pain working on ANYTHING underneath it right now. I didn't know where to post this so I thought I would try here first. Thank you for all of your help!

Nate

I use Grease Lightning to get the bottom clean. Spray it on, then take the hose and spray off. Might need a brush on the stingy stuff, but Grease Lightning will get it clean.

Remember that what water runs off the chassis will be toxic waste, and should be disposed of properly.
