thunkthunk, thunk

That's how I describe the sound which happens when traveling mph 10-35 and go over any bump. This is not the OEM noise- for lack of a better - that comes from the shocks and springs- this is an unfriendly deep sounding THUNK THUNK - almost makes me think the mounts are about to separate and I'll leave the whole *ssend behind me. Spare tire carrier? t/g not closed level and plumb?

How old is your bronco? Does it still have the sway bar and sway bar links? If the sway bar link bushings are crusty/bad then it will make that noise. Mine does the same thing. I will either have to replace the bushings (which I started to do when I snapped one off the links...due to rust) or completely take the sway bar off. Keep us informed!

The thunking is coming from the rear of the rig- it's a 96, Sway bar and linkb still there.
Just got back from a test ride - I was in the back of the cab w/buddy going over potholes. Definitely back and under. THUNKTHUNK- THUNK.... I'm hearing it in my head now. Maybe I'll just rip out the sway bars?

Check your shock mounting bolts. It is possible that the steel sleeve in the shock bushing has worn the bolt down and is now causing this klunk. I had to replace one of the bolts on mine due to this. Have someone jounce up and down on the rear bumper while you feel for movement or hear the thunk.

my buddy had this on his 96 bronco...his rear shackles were rusted right through barely hanging on at all...had to be replaced...rigth side one is a pain as you may hjve to drop the tank to replace but you should be able to inspect them both easily..
