Tow Hitch receiver info needed for "05 F350

Just received my '05 F350 CC4x4, I love it, thanks again to all the good buying info I received from this site.

Much to my surprise this "loaded" truck with the tow command etc. did not come with the factory installed class V hitch receiver, which was only a
~$180 option I just found out.

The local ford dealer is offering one for $325 plus $80 installation and I am upset, it is the OEM piece but it is Class IV and does not look like the onme on the new trucks.

Can somebody please give me the part number of the OEM Ford part and a guide price I should try to buy it for, thanks in advance.

You do not want to get a Class V hitch. You definitely want a class VI. If you get the class V you will greatly restrict your towing capacity. Class V is only 5000lbs.

I think your numbers are a litte skewed.

The Draw-Tite web site lists the following as their strongest hitch:
Class IV (Non weight distributing)= 12,000 lb. gross trailer wt./1,200 lb. tongue weight

Class IV (weight distributing) = 14,000 lb gross trailer wt./1,400 lb tongue weight.

Reese shows a Class V Titan at 10,000 lb./1,200 and 14,000/1,700 respectively.

You are right, I should have said class III and IV, not V and VI. My F150 came with a class IV. He would definitely want at least a IV. But you would get all the capabilities of your truck with a class V.
Sorry about the confusion. What can I say. Some days your brain dead, some days your not.

Unless you really want a Ford hitch, just get an aftermarket one from a good outfit like Reese or Draw-Tight. I'm sure one of them is supplying the hitch for Ford.

Good luck!!

Thanks for all the advice, I decided to get the Reece Titan "no drill" that uses the original holes for easy installation.
