I'm looking for an aftermarket "replacement" billet grille for my '05 black SCREW Lariat.....I'd like to have a nice quality billet grille with a gloss black surround (my Lariat surround is chrome) to match my black paint. I've been told that I need to get either an XL or FX4 grille surround - but are they flat or gloss black?

And what are the top aftermarket grille manufacturers?

The XL grille surround is flat black. I believe it can be painted. But I think the STX or XLT grille surround may be better.

Your Lariat grille with the chrome surround is a $300 retail item, so you can probably recoup some of your cost via eBay.

There are more grille overlay vendors than my memory can hold. Putco comes to mind, but I don't have any experience with them yet. I think that stylin concepts is one source that carries a lot of them.

Hot lap, Don't sell your chrome surround just yet!!! I want it. I have an xlt with a dark shadow grey surround but want a chrome surround. Can we work a trade?

 

If you want the black, STX or FX4 will work. Lot's of guys are looking for the Chrome so I'm sure you can work a trade. I initially wanted matching bumbers and surrounds but Ford didn't offer an all white FX4, so I went with the Lariat and put on a billet that goes nicely with the chome suound. Kinda like it now.
