Talking head/intake port matching

Hi all
Here it is
Head c8ae h intake port sise 1.85x1.30 I canot find this sise in the book

Head coae intake port sise 2.3x1.3 found

intake coae 2.140x1.18 factory cast 4 found

Intake edelbrock 2105 1.75x.970

? what heads do i have the c8ae heads are not ft heads , the crossover is not in the right place for a truck head, and the port sises are wrong for a pass head?

? the edelbrock intake has much smaller ports than the cast iron, so why use an ededbrock?(flow at low rpms?)tork
Do I port match the edelbrock to the 68 heads ?smaller ports
the 68 heads have smaller chambers.
the 60 heads have larger ports. larger ports
Help dazyed and confused, what do i use for the most bottom end tork that i want?

Well, I have a set of D2TE-AA's that measure about 1.9" x 1.35". This is pretty close to the C8AE's. Anyway, since that's the standard Edelbrock Performer intake, I'd just run it as is. This creates a nice reversion dam which prevents pressure waves from backing up the intake. When you need to port is if the intake manifold opening is larger than the head intake port. Then you enlarge the head intake port to match. That would apply if you were using the Performer RPM intake.

You're fine. Run it as is.

OBTW, Steve's book lists the port measurements to be 1.93" x 1.34". You're not that far off.

Edit: Use the later heads for more torque. If you had the RPM intake and were looking for more horsepower, then I'd say use the earlier heads. Those early heads would be wasted with a standard Performer intake.

Yeah, what Rusty says. The revision dam thing is a good thing. I've seen engines with big cams and matched ports have a fuel cloud standing above the carbs at idle. Not a good thing really.
