overdrive fuse blows intermittently

I own a 2001 F-150 2x4 ,the fuse for the overdrive blows intermittently. As anyone seen this problem or have any answer.I also know that they are bad
for tie rods.I had to change my left outer tie rod today, mechanic just pushed
upward on tie rod and came off.Should I change all inner and rh outer tie rod.
Thanks.

Wow changed the tie rods already? Start at the tranny, follow the motor wiring that allows it to go into OD, all the way back. Sounds like you have a short. Look closely at the areas where the wire is close to edges or where it may be getting pinched. Since you are changing tie rods, yes....go for then all. That way you know they are all good and not wondering if another is going to fail. Although I can't see why OD not working would cause the tie rods to go out.

Don't ignore the wiring inside the shift lever, might be chafed.

Have the same problem. fuse also controlls the auto headlight function, and the
auto lock function,[if installed].
My mechcanic issolated the problem to the computer module. replacement requires reprograming.
