I was wondering what would be a good way to clean out the enigine, like with CD2 oil detergent or something of that nature. I plan on changing the oil when I get my truck back and would like to know what would be a good product to use. Has anybody ever tried that oil for higher mileage engines. I know Castrol and Valvoline make it but i've never used any and i'm wondering if it will really make a difference.

Ive heard of people using auto transmission fluid to clean it...
as far as oil goes...200k plus miles and castrol 10w40 seems to work just fine for me...

This isn't 73-79 pertinent.

Please Try in the Oils & Lubrication forum.
