Not sure how many of you like to fish for pinks but man are they in this year. Might be a record year. Only time will tell. Hopefully the Silvers will also be as strong.

Do pinks smoke well, or are they best for canning? Not a single King for me this year, bummer. I really need about a dozen or two reds. Might have to go dipping for them on the Kenai when it opens. Some silvers would be great too.

I have found that if they are caught fresh-bright and canned boy are they good. I have never been a fan of kings. Maybe just some bad experiences. Use to commerical fish for 4 years so I'll leave it at that. Red are diffently the best. Copper River Reds are so much better than Bristol Bay reds. I havent had reds from any other location in the state so I can only compare those two. I am hoping to pressure cook (can) some pinks this year. Trying to get a hold of this receipe that some guy had from Minn. Still havent been able to get a hold of him. Pink canned in lemmon juice and some other items. Best fish that I have had shy of a fresh red sauted in lemon pepper, co**** milk on the BBQ.
Guess I need to go outside and defrost the Silvers from last year to smoke them. THis is a good remindar to start that process.

Let us know when the Silvers come in. I hope to make it down this year to fill the cooler. We missed last year but made it about about 5 years straight before that.

Darn rain. Went to Anchorage for a week. Was suppose to have someone mow the yard. That didnt happen. Came home Sat night. Only day off so I had to go out and cut it in the rain before the grass took over.
Last summer was great and most of this summer has been nice. Maybe it will clear up although with all the pinks here the sun will sure to bake the deads one. Boy the stinch will be something. Glad I live 12 miles out of town.
IF you have time give me a call. Let me know if you need my number. I will probley be taking my 5 year old out tommorrow for a few hours to see what we can get. I heard that they are still bright. Have to see.
