I agree, I've got the IR-2131QT, which is the same as the 2131, but it's a little quieter because of a different air exhaust on it. It's a great airgun, rated at 600 ft-lbs of torque in reverse, 425 ft-lbs forward. Here's a link to Ingersoll-Rand's listing of their airguns:

Ingersoll Rand is the only way to go. I have worked on pneumatic machinery all my life and can tell you without a doubt I/R! Even the cheapest I/R, the 231, whichI have used for 20 years hits harder than most other brands.

Ingersoll all the way,
I have used (and owned) just about every economy priced air gun on the market thinking I could not afford to spend the money on a good one, wwwrrrooonnnggg!!!, For another $20 you can buy an Ingersoll and it will outlast and out perform any 6 of the cheap ones.

I second the 2131QT. Won't kill your ears, will break anything you need it to, the 2131QT will get the job done. It also has a much better feel to it than most impact wrenchs (th grip was made by Hogue, the company that produces grips for many expensive firearms). Keep it oiled and greased and you'll have it for a long time.

Yup, the IR 2131a is a fine machine. Total out classes the cheapos. All my air tools are cheapos EXCEPT the impact, not a place to skimp.

I also have an IR 2131Ti. Good all purpose gun. But if you want the ultimate in 1/2" power, get the biggest Mac you can. I use my foreman's gun to torque turn Detroit flywheel bolts. Not sure of the model number, but it's not the composite body, and it's about $300.

Well I sprung for the 2135Ti.

I figure that there are just some tools that you need to be bad-azz, and I plan on having this bad-azz for a lifetime. Now for it's little brother 3/8" gun...

I have had my Mac for 15 years now, and it sure looks just like the Ingersol... never been rebuilt, and gets used fairly regular.
