Air induction on 2005 F150 5.4

Hey guys,
What do you guys think about the different air intakes for the new 5.4 3v trucks??

I just purchased a 2005 F150 SCREW 4x2 Lariat with the 5.4L...

I see K&N, Airaid, Volant all make air inductions for the truck...what are the pros/cons of each???

Thanks,
Paul

I've got a Brute Force on my 4.6, but if I had a 5.4, I think I would be looking at an Airforce1. . Good midrange output. Airraid is popular, but I don't think the Volant owners are all happy.

Paul, Chris Adams is right about Volant. My Volant came missing a bunch of parts and the company will not respond back to your messages. The person that answers the phone is programmed to tell you someone will call you back and that never happens.Anyway, after I went to the hardware and bought parts to get mine on, it is loud.I will keep it on but I think there may be better choices.Good Luck!

Thanks guys! I'll look in those that were mentioned!

Speed limiter sucks! I was cruising on the local toll way and just when the truck was starting to pull good I hit the limiter! Man! This truck had a lot more in it too!

Time to get a programmer!!!

BTW...where are you guys buying the systems??? Motorhaven??

I read some members were buying AF1/Airaid kits for $179-$239.
But all the places I've seen them for are around the $300...

Can someone PM me or post where to get them???

Thanks,
Paul

Just bought and installed a K&N series 77 cold air intake on my 5.4L 3V last friday. The intake has made the truck considerably louder when the engine is using torque. A very clean intake that really opened up the engine compartment. So far I haven't noticed much of a mileage difference but that probably has more to do with me flooring the pedal all weekend. Truck has a noticable power increase after the mod. Overall install was a breeze and shouldn't be a problem for any novice wrench. Now all I need is a new exhast and the truck would roar! I'd recommend the K&N but haven't actually seen any of the other products installed on a 5.4L. Picked up the kit for about $250 online, there was about three different retailers offering them at this price.

I also installed a K&N 77 series high flow intake kit. I highly recommend it. Great performance and sound for about $250.
