97 Ranger; 2.3L Orifice Tube Location

I tried twice post on the A/C formum twice with no response so maybe I was in the wrong forum for A/C questions for the Ranger.

I'll keep this nice and simple.

I need to locate the location of the orifice tube. I referenced the below link to a picture of the A/C system but the only thing it does not explain where the orifice tube location is.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...hreadid=133649

Please tell me where the orifice tube using the diagram (i.e. located in the small tube with the 3/8 spring lock between the evaporator and the condenser, not the 1/2 tube).

Thanks.

See diagram, between part 9 and 10, inside that nut (may be spring lock) facing part 10.

Yeah that is where it is. It took me forever to find it when I was replacing my compressor a couple months ago. On my old truck there were two nuts on the line, pulled it apart and there was the tube.

It's not stock, and I didn't know about them then or put one in mine, yet, but there is an ADJUSTABLE oriface tube, that is supposed to make the 134 feel more like R12. One mechanic friend of mine put one in his system after converting it, and hating the conversion. After placing it in there, he says it's a lot colder then the straight conversion.
I wish I knew for sure, I'd hate to try to fix something that ain't broke yet.

This system that came on the 97 Ranger had R134a originally and the compressor went south so I am flushing, replacing the compressor, accumulator, and the orifice tube, and using PAG oil. I just got the orifice tube that the Advance Auto Parts had in their computer, hope it is the right one!

I am sure it's the right one (probably the same as stock) the other one is a new design that is suppose to increase the cooling of the a/c by opening variably to the pressures. It's an aftermarket design, that I've been told some new cars have gone to. Still haven't tried it, as it's not broke, so I'm not gonna fix it!
