1) you can run 33" and stock hubs just fine. I did have 35" and the hubs lasted just fine. Hubs still going strong and have busted a drive shaft and ujoints instead.
2) Do the 3G (130 amp) alternator conversion. Plenty of power for what ails ya! Search on 3G alternator to know what I am talking about...feel free to ask questions.
3) To initially get the tailgate down I would take the access panel off and using a battery charger reverse polarity on the window motor. This should bring it down IF the motor is still good.

Fixed back window. For a few minutes anyway. It broke again. Sounds exactly like my passenger side window so I figure its the same problem.
