1999 key switch

I have a 1999 f-150 4x4 off road. The key switch will not work. The key turns, but nothing happens, like there is no tumblers. Also power is on to the radio and windows even with no key in it. how do you replace the key switch?

Unless they have changed things from a few years back...(about 6), then you need to turn the key to the ON position, then on the bottom of the switch, you will see a hole. Using something like a pick, you press in on a "release" then slide the cylinder out. Then you can install a replacement. But this will require a new key unless you take it to a locksmith and have them re-key the new ignition to fit your existing key. That may be the way to go so you don't have to get a new key/chip and have to re-program.

Someone chime in if I am missing this one!

If you do get the new cylinder, definitely have them re-key it as you will have to replace every one of your keys and have them reprogrammed. That is easily over the $150 range.
