Door sills to protect paint

Door sills to protect paint
The guys with the more expensive trucks have stickers on the door sill to protect the paint. Those of us with the STX etc. models have to make do with paint getting scratched when we get in or out.
Rather than buy the Ford 'stick on' stuff, I went with Moss Motors Ventshade brand stepshields. For about 40 bucks shipped they will sell you a set of four, for a Supercrew. I have a reg cab so I just used the front ones. They are marked for left and right, and it matters. They have a taper, so put them in right way around. If you change your mind, use a hair dryer on one end, then you can pop them off.
I like them, so far.
A little longer would have been nice, but not needed.

Wrong Part
Chris, they provided you the wrong part.
I ordered these from stylin concepts shortly after noticing the first scrape in the paint on the door sill. Auto Vent Shade does make a set specific for the 2004-2005 regular cab. It contains four parts, and includes a cutout for the rear door latch on the bottom. It extends from sea to shining sea, at least as far as the door sill is concerned. I think it was $29.95 plus shipping.
I imagine that you could make the other ones fit, but I personally wouldn't want to spend the time to cut up that plastic.
This is symptomatic of a problem I've encountered - it seems most of the attention is on the more expensive, larger cab models, when you talk to accessory people. So you have to ask them to check again - yes, I meant the regular cab, it comes with four doors from 2004 onwards, are you sure there's no part? - and I think it's safest to call a couple of suppliers, no matter how much you trust your current vendor. YMMV.
I have the part number at work and I'll post it during the week, if I can find my memory pills.
I'd have posted it yesterday, but we had the splendiferous opportunity of attending #2 daughter's graduation ceremony from UCLA - Bachelor's in Biochemistry. For those of you with college age children, you know what a moment this is. For the rest of you in the daily grind of raising kids, keep the long view - what you are doing really will matter in a few years.
But, manfully bringing the topic back on track, this means I will soon have more money to spend on truck accessories.

I installed these sill protectors from Moss a ways back and they ARE awesome!!
For the record "us" guys with the Lariat's only get the front two doors with the Ford adhesive stickers....the rear sills of my '05 SCREW were bare. My Brothers "05 SCREW came with the Ford adhesive sticker only in the front passenger sill.....thank goodness for the Moss sill plates - they are very nice. Funny thing - I installed both mine and my brothers (8 sill plates total) and the Moss sill plates were identical....no taper on either of our sets...all installed perfectly and no gaps....our fronts were both identical as well as the rear door sills...I noticed the instructions mentioned a "taper" but could not see any taper in the sill plates when lined up against one another?

Once installed, it's almost imperceptible.
