Thumbs up Anyone install 6.5 speakers in a F-250?

I was wondering if anyone has installed 6.5 speakers in the front doors on a F-250 SC. I would perfer to install the 6.5 instead of the 5.25 for better SQ and power handling.

Yes, I run Focal 2 way components in the front door and had to fabricate a plexiglass plate in order for the tweeter to fit. If you are just running a single woofer then you can bolt it right on (might need to drill another hole in your door depending on the speakers hole alignment) I would highly recommend that you use some sound deadning material (dynomat) to cover up the gap. Good luck

The 165w were what i want to install. Where did you put the tweeter? I was planing on installing it on the front edge of the door where the panel meets the window.

I have the Focal K2P. You will love the Utopias . I put the tweeter about 1 inch above the woofer. I wanted a stealth install for myself but a tweeter will fit in that location you are thinking about. If you install it there then you really don't need a panel. Just cover your speaker hole with a rectangle piece of Extreme Dynomat (it works great), draw a 6.5 circle (Focals are a true 6.5, unlike some other brands) and mount your speaker. Mount your tweeter and connect it to the crossover (that is double sided taped to the inside of your door panel metal and you are set. Good luck, what else are you planning to install?

Talking

Thanks for the Info. I'm going all out. I have always been an Alpine man. Alpine IVA-D300 with the Navigation, TUA-T020XM, for XM radio. MRV-F545, MRD-M605 SWR-1242D. And of course the Focal Utopias. I,m also going to install the Clifford RSX 3.5 remote start alarm for some sort of peace of mind.

You will definetly be happy with your set-up. I just got finished speaking with Focal-America's tech guy and he recommended that the tweeters be mounted in the a-piller facing each other on a slight pivit. If you need some assistance with your set-up his name is Dwayne and can be reached at (805)484-2485. You will love the clifford alarm. I have always had clifford in the past but purchased a Viper 791xv 2 way, remote start fully loaded with all the bells and whistles alarm. I am pushing my focals with a jl 300/4 amp, have an Image Dynamics IDMax 12 (installing this weekend in a custom King Ranch Center console) with a JL 1000/1 amp. The Amps are installed in a Plexiglass and almost matching brown leather Custom Amp box. I have an alpine cda-9835a great set-up. I also have Tthe UA-T020XM and the antenna mounted under the wiper cowl (Stealth). I guess I will be mounting my tweeters in the A-pillar black cover. Good Luck and post some pictures whenever you have everything installed

Replace Ford F-250 5x7 Speaker’s With 6.5” Component Mid & Tweeter

Do It Yourself Bri shows you some good tips in replacing your crapy sounding 5x7 speakers with a much better sounding separate component speaker system with mid and tweeter.

Not to derail the OP but I'm about to fit 6.5 JL Audio C3's into my '03 E250.

Looking at the door mounting surface and how the interior trim panel possibly will interfere with the sound I'm curious if I'd be better off mounting them to the trim panel somehow?

I will be using them co-axially, not separate tweeters.

Just get some 5 buck cutting boards from Wally World and trace your old 5x7 speaker onto the board, the superimpose the 6.5 template over that. The rest should be pretty self explainatory as to cutting them out and drilling them. They are very dense and don't vibrate.
