Divorced transfer case?

Could anyone please tell me a little more about using a divorced xfer case? How does it get held in? What is done about the shifter pivot point? Is there only a few setups that can use it, or could it be done with most? Any info is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Divorced transfer case?

The remote trans case only came in 73-77 F250s.they were rubber mounted to a crossmember aprox 2' back from the trans. the shift selecter pivots on the tail housing of the tranny and pushes a shaft in and out of the transcase via a long steel shaft.

Divorced transfer case?

the trans and case are joined by a very short drive shaft.if youve got lots of time and money you could probably mount it on anything.expect to have driveshafts built.the tranfer case was known to be bullet proof.
