Another way to Pull Codes?

My truck is running rough with no power, and the check engine light is on. I removed the chip and still the same problem. Is there a way to manually pull codes without a scanner?

go to a parts store for free. some scanners work on our trucks some dont. i have had good luck with advance auto parts. the one i go too uses a actron 9140 and it worked great. good luck. i have also heard something about being able to do it on the speedo of our old trucks but cant confirm this as i have never tried it.
