What does everyone do for a living?
Finding out where Momudder has been gave me an idea for a new topic. So what does everyone do for a living? I'm a warehouse supervisor for Dierbergs in their produce warehouse. Although I'm kinda looking for a different job, just kinda testing the water to see what else is out there.

well, I was originally a mechanic, worked for a GM dealer, then Merc/Lincoln/Audi VW/ Mazda dealership, Goodyear, then a International GMC truck dealership. I worked for a while in industrial electrical equipment manufaturing for a while, initially as an assembler, then welderWhen the factory closed, I went back to wrenching for a Ford/GM dealer before I quit the field and became a welder. Then in 2003, I had a herniated disc fail and another herniated disc at the next level bad enough they removed both and fused 3 of my lower lumbar vertebrae together, but that surgery was not fully succesful, so I have residual nerve problems as a result. So, for that reason, I am unable to secure employment anywhere, first reason being insurance liability, next would be lesser productivity, and the last absenteeism trouble. I have been trying to get disability, but to no avail as yet. It is ongoing, but slow. I do as I can, and generally pay for it with pain, but the bill collectors don't care about that. I also refuse to just lay there and do nothihg, so I take the pain rather than do nothing, which is just about as painful to me.... Besides, if i just lay around, i get to hurting as much or more... So I am a freelance handyperson...

I work for a ambulance service in Fulton, EMT for the last 15 years going to paramedic class this fall. Volunteer fire for last 21 years. Jack of all trades, have worked construction, paved roads, management at a few place. I was 6 months away from associates in Architectural engineering when I decided it wasn't the career I wanted, I then started EMS.
Fellro, my dad is going through the same thing, he had his surgery 4 years ago and the plant he worked at shut down, he is just about to get his disablity. I think he actually works more now then he did before, mainly because he don't like to just lay around.

Right now between jobs again. I do some auto repair out of the house and "freelance" home repair/remodeling and whatever else to make money. I worked 9 years for a company that made airport equiptment and lost my job shortly after 911. Since then I have delivered phonebooks, packagehandler, mowed lawns, mover, gas station attendant, babysat- got 4 kids and if you have any idea what daycare cost you'd understand, back to work at the equiptment manufacturer under new ownership- 4mos. as a temp then hired as fulltime permanant. I didn't realize permanant meant 3 mos. Life has been full of ups and downs and I've managed to keep my family and my house. Jeff

lookin for a summer job... anywhere, but no one wants to hire the white male that just graduated from high school... this is getting friggin irritating. I'd LOVE a job, and all the other kids do is cry about their stupid 20 hr/week job that they ring stuff up at a register. BTW, it wouldn't be my first job, so I'm not looking forward to money and having no idea what I'm getting into! Anyone know of any openings is the KC area, and anything south?
