Replacing kingpins and bushings on '78 F150
I have already replaced all the axle pivot and radius arm bushings along with the drag ling and powersteering unit. I am now working on replacing the kingpin bushings. I have the metal bushings which must be reamed out after being inserted into the spindle. My question is this - can I possibly ream out the metal bushings myself using a brake cylinder honing kit? I realize that I would have be careful and not ream them too much. But I would think that the brake honing kit would remove the brass lining in the bushings. I have read on some of the post that garages may sometime ream out the bushing too much. Any input or suggestions will be appreciated.
