my 04 xl came with no rear speakers, after adding an 6 disc changer from a older ford my friend had i put some 4 ohm replacement speakers in the rear, compaired to the front they sound horrible, does anyone know the rear factory speakers impedance?
The stock speakers should be 4 ohm, at least they were on my 2002. Are you sure the new speakers we're hooked up correctly, + to + and - to - ? Out of phase speakers can really sound like crap. Also, make sure the fader control is set properly on the stereo.
I have never seen any speakers that were stock 4 ohm, there has to be something to account for the much better sounding front units, yes the correct polarity was the first thing i checked.
I have taken out a lot of stock speakers, and the ones that are labeled are usually 2 Ohm speakers. However, a 4 ohm speaker should not sound distorted as long as it is wired properly
I think you must be confused, there are no stock speakers that are 2 ohms
There sure are...I have taken them out myself...it may be a GM thing, but they are the only ones I have seen labels on. Just a suggestion. I have heard of other vehicles doing the same.
