I have the opportunity to buy a set of Pacesetter shorty headers for an '87-'95 5.0 liter F-150-250. My truck is a '92 F-150 5.8 liter. I know they will bolt to the heads with no problem. My question is will they fit the existing exhaust pipes? My 86 5.0 F-150 had the O2 sensor in the manifold, and my '92 5.8 F-150 has the O2 sensor in the head pipe. Is this the only difference? If so, I can use the 5.0 headers on the 5.8, and just plug the O2 sensor hole in the right header. Thanks in advance for any input.

 

Ford shows different P/Ns for the 5.0 and 5.8 headers. I suspect they use the same y-pipe but because of the differences in deck height and as a result, in width, the headers won't swap. If the price is righteous enough, maybe you can get a good muffler shop to replace or modify your existing y-pipe to fit your headers.

 

Thanks for the info, but I kinda answered my own question in the mean time. I parked my 5.8 next to a friends 5.0 and compared them. The left manifold looks the same, but the right one has a very different angle at the output. It looks like they won't work without some modifications. Will these headers fit my 96 5.0 2x4 F150?

 

According to Pacesetter, they will fit all '87-'95 F-150 and F-250 with 302 2wd and 4wd. They list a different part # for '96 only.
