I bought my truck used in January of 2004. So far it's a good thing I didn't get a flat tire because I just found out I don't have the key for the spare tire lock. After installing a hitch I needed to move the spare tire a little to make room and thats when I found out about the key (or lack there of). With the bumper off it was easy enough to lower the tire a little and then raise it back up.

How many Ranger owners don't have spare tire locks? And do you find your spare tire being stolen all of the time? I'm tempted to just drill it out.

 

I don't and won't have a lock, I've never had a spare stolen nor do I have any buddies etc that have, and I don't worry about it either. It's a pizza cutter spare designed for temporary use; maybe I'd think otherwise if it was something different.

 

Actually it's a 225 70R15 Firestone Wilderness tire on a black standard rim. But I wouldn't think that it would make more of a theft item.

 

The 2000 came with one, the 2002 didn't but it should have had one.
