Mercon and Mercon V ATF

I guess I could call Ford but thought I'd ask here.

Does Mercon V superceed Mercon? Can I put Mercon V in my C-6 that uses Mercon ATF?

this topic has been disscussed lots of times just do a search.but to anser the question the answer is no the mercon v is not made for that trans

Ok thanks ya i read up on that and Mercon V is a semi synthetic it has too much Friction Modifiers and other crap that the C-6 does not require. In fact all the extra FM could cause transmission slippage.

Yout think the mercon V has alot of modifiers, you should research the new mercon SP, I have to deal with it at work in the new torque shifts, and man thats some really slick stuff. the sp will also seperate from conventinal mercon and mercon v
