I-6 300 Timing
David ,
The timimg is adjustable . Unless you have disturbed the dist or had problems with the pulley slipping , Its a safe bet your engine is still in time . The 300 uses a gear on the crank to turn a gear on the cam shaft .... much less wear and tear vs timing chains . If you want to check the timing , hook up the timing light , you ll find a two wire connector coming out next to the distributor , there is a plug in the end of this connector ...remove it ...this will stop the computer from searching for the optimal timing . Check the mark on the pulley in relation to the timing mark . If you do need to adjust , its handy to have one of those wrenches that will fit around the dist to loosen the hold down bolt . Dont forget to reinstall the cap in the Spout connector when youre done . Hope this helps .
