Why do the rear brakes on my F350 dually constantly go out of adjustment? I have to manually adjust the rear brakes every few hundred miles or so. I had the dealership put new brakes on it about two or three years ago (didn't feel like pulling the axles!) and it hasn't been right since. Any advice?
Thanks guys, Randy

The answer could be as simple as the mechanic reinstalled the adjusters on opposite sides of the axles. The adjusters are one of the components that CAN be installed on the wrong side because they are only different in the screw it self, which is either left hand or right hand threads. As a rule of thumb on Ford trucks, a left hand threaded adjuster goes on the left side because the arm that works the adjuster is mounted underneath the star wheel, so the arm has to 'pick-up'and twist the wheel and cause the adjuster to open up,only if left hand threads are on that side. The right side needs right hand threads. On vehicles that have the adjuster arm above the star wheel, which has to 'push down' on the wheel, these vehicles need RH threads on the drivres side and LH threads for the pass. Chevys have been like this for ever so if the mechanic was thinking like a Chevy,he goofed and put the adjusters on the wrong side. That's what happens when you fully don't understand what needs to happen for brakes to work proper on ANY vehicle. You could check this,on the truck without removing the hubs, by noticing which direction you have to twist the star in order to open the shoes on either side and picture in your mind what hand thread you are dealing with.If the adjust arm is underneath the star wheel, it's left hand for the left & right hand for the right.
