Ideas to Beef-Up Bronco?

I have a 302 XLT '91 Bronco. Everything is stock. With the summer coming, i wanted to beef-up my Bronco. Although, money is a limiting factor, i was wondering if anyone has ideas? The bronco to me, looks mean in the stock form, but i wanted to add a few things to it. I would like to beef-up in the sense of off-roading, and also get some more power from under the hood. Any ideas would be appreciated.

what is your budget for your power plans ? The best bang for $$ I've gotten has been my Bassani headers. I've also upgraded to 56mm TB-Edelbrock EFI manifold-Bassani catback. Future plans include Edelbrock alum heads-Bassani y-pipe and new cam. More flow in matched with more flow out = power. All this does cost $$$, but again for all my upgrades the headers gave me the best seat-of the pants improvement so far.

I agree with iagainsti, for all the power needed. For serious off roading you will need to lock diffs, this will no get you any good looks, as far as the truck goes, but for any type of mud of just 4wheeling you need them. They cost a good bit, but if your going for looks first, you might won't to put grip tires and rims.

If you put big grip tires, the obvious is, you need a lift, if you do that, you'll need new gears, and might as well put in lockers while your in there.

You might want to invest in a heavy duty bumper, and maybe a winch($).

All this =s alot of $$$.

Good luck,
-Matt

if this is your first bronco, i suggest you just get a good set of tires 31"s and learn your rig thru and thru. some simple and farily cheap upgrades to increase a little performance would be a K&N filter or home made Fipk. give it a good tune up with some ford 9mm wires, cap/rotor , get an msd 8227 coil and bump the timing to 12* or 13* btdc with the plugs gapped at .55. get a haynes manual to help along the way or just ask here. this would give you a decent foundation to start from. then see were your needs take you from there. headers & exhaust work would be next . bassini is the best but there is other products out there an your local muffler shop can get you setup for a decent price im sure. keep the questions coming

This is my first bronco...however I've owned it for over 2 years and have gone everywhere w/ it..including off-roading and beach-driving. I was just wondering of some ideas.

well in that case i say start with a lift 4" or 6" can usually get those for 500-600 bucks. then get some tires either 33's or 35's. you can drive on them for awhile till you can afford gears. but this is if you wheel more then drive on the street. if more street driving is done then look into getting the motor were you want it then look at lifts and tires etc..

I have never been so happy in my life with a Bronco.
1. its paid off. 89 EB $3600 ebay
2. 5.8
3. came with a 4" lift 33"BF's 97,000 miles
4. came with Air lockers front and rear.
5. came with soft top and hard top
6. runs like a bat out of hell
7. came with poneer CD and 10" boston accustics in rear with 2 power amps and tweeters in the cabin. I can here the steerio at 70 mPh with the top off and cant even here my flow masters.

If you want to beef your up your Bronco, you can sell the one you have and buy one already loaded. to get all these options you will spend over $8000

If you can sell the one you have for lets say 2000 to 2500, for just another 1500 more you can find a great deal. But shop carefully!

see my gallory

Here in Houston I have not ran across a Bronco as pretty yet. I know they are here, just havent ran across one yet.

wow, what a deal you got. Yea i have thought about that, it would be easier that way. But as anyone can prolly atest too, the broncos give strong attachments to the owners.

Try a MSD 6-A ignition, $220 or so. That and a 40kv coil made and very noticeable improvement on my 85 Bronco. Easy to install on mine, but may be a bit harder on the 93. If your thinking about big power I'd save up and get a 351. Some like the EFI but I prefer the carb setup that ended after 86. The EFI is harder to play with. By the way my 85 is for sale in FTE calassifieds: https://www.ford-trucks.com/classifi...cat=14&page=11
Its a 351 XLT loaded for $2895. I have more than that just in the motor, but she’s got to go! Good luck with your project Rupturedduk.
