I have now picked up another 79 Indy Pace Truck..This one is all completely original with original decals intact. I also now own a complete original Ford factory Indy decal set including the door "Official truck" decals...Danny


By the way, the new one I picked up is a 460 truck also..

No, I have not heard from them again. I did email them about two months ago inquiring about more specific numbers and info. Also asked if they, or anybody, kept records of VIN's of particular vehicles that were at the track for the race event..

 

Any way worng button. I towed it home and parked it. putting a little in it at a time until now heres all i put in it: Gas tank high volume oil pump fuel pump rebuilt carb spark plugs spark plug wires blinker bulbs and thats it besides registering it and getting it plated. Its got a 302 2 barrel Its painted like the indy pace truck but no letterings the only thing i can see as a resemblence is the holes in the bed where the roll bars were bolted to. Anyway i need info on this truck since everyone is saying its a rare truck but any info on it would be great.One more thing if it makes anydifference it was made in march 79

Anyone look at their buck tags for hints, Cleaned my truck yesterday and the buck tag says INDY on it. Had my wife look to double check. Mine is a custom, with 460. C-6, 3.50 gears, dual tanks, A/C, and the sport steering wheel. Not sure whether it had the bars on it or not. Built, 4-79. Trying to figure all this out is very interesting.

 

Which one is the buck tag?

 

The buck tag on my truck also has INDY stamped on it although I was not sure if this was indicative of a pace truck. I know that '79 Mustang Pace cars have a 500 on their buck tags to denote one as such.

My truck originally came with a 400 mated to a C6 along with 3.50 gearing, dual tanks, A/C, and I recently added a sport wheel I picked up on ebay for $20.

The buck tag is riveted on the firewall behind the carb.

I never even knew there was a tag back there. It is completely obscured by AC and vacuum lines. However, mine has "INDY" stamped on it, too.
