Post Break-in Period

I have had my 2005 SCab FX4 now for a little while and just cracked 2k miles on her. I was wondering when some of you all waited to start getting into the motor? I have not brought the truck much over 3000rpm under acceleration.

I have the same truck only it's a screw with 2000 kilometers around 1300 miles.
The manual states drive it normaly inorder to break it in just avoid towing any kind of heavy load. I think what they mean is don't pull a heavy trailer for the first 2 or 3 thousand miles and don't be mashing the gas pedal on take off. also don't drive 300 km at a constant speed as it will do more harm than good.

I drive my truck just like they say,, gives all the parts a chance to break in properly, I'll use regular 5w20 for the first few oil changes then switch to senthetic at around 10 or 12 thousand. a few thousand after that I'll add some kinda high quality friction lubricant but not untill I feel the engine is truly broken in and all parts are seating correctly.

I would suggest that first oil change around 2500-3000 miles. This should get rid of any loose metal fragments.Good Luck!

Thumbs up

Sounds good. I was just wondering when other people started giving their trucks some GAS, not necessarily WOT, but more than having the truck shift at 2-3k rpm.
