Which airport to fly in to?

I found three airports that 'serve' Kansas City. Which is the best?

Use MCI, it is the main airport. The others are smaller "industrial" and corporate type airports.

Does anyone know if MCI is a small airport? Ive been pondering going out, but the only planes that seem to fly in are MD-88s. I hate flying, so when I need to go anywhere, I like getting in a big plane.

The MCI is a major airport so there should not be a problem flying into it. I know they handle just about anything short of a SST. As torque1st said the others are smaller municipal airports that cater towards the private and corporate type planes.

guys, I'm a local. the MCI is a rundown airport in the middle of Kansas City, MO.

The best airport to go through is KCI up north. You'll have great access to rental cars and is the safest/nicest way to go.

MCI is the Major airport serving Kansas City. The IATA code for it is MCI the one downtown is the MKC. Everyone calls it KCI but the federal aviation call is MCI.

Kansas City International Airport (IATA) MCI
Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport (IATA) MKC
Johnson Industrial Airport (IATA) JCI

How far is Lexena from Kansas City? Mainly asking due to rental car concerns. Thanks

It's a suburb of KC so not very far at all. It's on the west side of KCK.If you are asking about the distance to the Rally and such then it is probably a 10 minute drive.

sorry about the confusion. I didn't know the code was referring to Kansas City International Airport. If you're going by the code, then by all means, please stick with MCI. Funny name... I don't fly a lot.

MCI is the cheapest one that serves KC.... everything else was 2-300$ more.
