Google the history of MCI and you will find out it does stand for Mid Continent International.

XNA is one of those weird ones. We call in Xena at the regional I fly for. People would get real upset when we called it Fayettville over the PA, so I gave up and called it NW AK Regional. Sounds really dumb over the PA, but it seems Passengers are only listening for mistakes.

Try American through STL and hop on a turbo prop to Joplin, MO. There is always Southwest.

For those thinking about it, Wichita's airport is ICT. They have meade a point of having low cost carriers such as Airtran and America West set up shop there.

Actually if the codes are looked up there is no Mid-Continent International and the MCI designation is for Kansas City.

Also for those thinking about it, Wichita is MUCH higher to fly into or out of than KC. In fact most of us drive to KC or OK city to fly.
