Best off-road tire
Hey, im tring to figure out what kind of tire would give me the best off road capibility and last to about 30-40K miles. I dont need a mud tire but i want somthing that is agressive looking. I had micky thompsons on another truck and only lasted about 15K miles.
Im want a 35" tire but with a 18" or 17" rim so all i could find are the Nitto tera-grabers and those look good.
So any opinions on a good tire would be great. Are the nittos a good long lasting tire? What about BFG's?
Thanks Mike

Do a search, there are a couple-few favorites. The BFG are pretty good and last awhile. It all comes down to what you want to spend and what looks you prefer. Find what you like best, looks and budget-wise then ask or search on that particular tire here.
Most folke frefer an E Rating, some will put a D on if they're not loading it up.

I agree with the Toyo guys, I have them on my truck, and have installed them on 10 or 12 of my friends trucks and jeeps, they work awesome in every situation, pavement, snow, mud, sand. Nitto is owned by the same parent company as Toyo tire and rubber, and I have heard the some of the carcasses come from the same mold. Toyo Open Country M/T's are also available in 35/12.50/17's.

Go to Toyo's website and look up your local Toyo dealers. That's most likely where you will get the best price....from a shop that sells a lot of Toyo. My 38/14.50R16 Toyo M/Ts were less than $250 a tire, I know I could have bought the 38/15.50R18s for like $365 or less.....so I'd think you should be able to get 35s cheaper than $400.

Go to Tire Rack and you can compare as many tires as you want. They have customer feedback and 0-10 ratings on a number of different items like road noise, tread wear, wet traction, dry traction, etc.
I put a set of Bridgestone Dueler M/T's on my Jeep wrangler and got 76,500 miles out of them. I'll be buying a set of 35-12.50's to replace the BFG's on the '01 F250 CC soon. Too soon unfortunately, that big boy chews up the rubber

I've always had BFG MT's on all my trucks. I have not heard of any other tire that last longer. A few months ago I swapped out my 37" BFG MT's for 38" Toyo MT Open Country's. They are the best looking aggressive tire out there, imo. From what I here they will not last as long but they look so good and I don't put a lot of miles on my truck anyway. If you want a longer lasting tire that still looks good you should get the BFG MT's imo. BFG's only make 12.5" wide tires which I think is too narrow for a tall tire, but is fine for a 35". Get the BFG AT's if you want to get even more miles out of your tires. just my two cents
