power door lock key lock not working
When I push my remote key fob I can hear a cylinoid clicking in the middle of dash, but my doors will not lock or unluck. It has been get worse over the last few weeks. I have tried both key fobs and they both do the same thing. Have already tried changing the battery. I have a 1999 Ford F250 light duty - any remedy or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

This just happened to my friend with a 2000 F150 Xcab. Both locks stopped working just right after he bought it. Almost as if they just dont have enough power. Dont bother with the relays under the dash, thats the first thing we checked and they all worked fine, we swapped them around and it didnt change a thing. The problem lies elsewhere. He's gonna take it to ford and I'll let you know what they find.
Oh, the truck came with an aftermarket alarm that is controlled by the factory remote, but I doubt it has anything to do with the locks.

The door lock actuators are like any electric motor, If used enough they tend to burn out or get weak.
Mine went out after my alarm installer was testing it out repeatedly. It had to be done to get the system installed properly. The moter over heats and the insides expand and get stuck. Kinda like a bad starter on your engine!
Well,... Heres a link to a place where you can order replacements CHEAP!!!!!!! They are a heavier duty unit and can ride piggy back on your old door lock rod to make the install easier, and put less strain on it as both activate. This place is awsome for all your electronic supply needs and service is outstanding! I ordered my actuator on a wednesday regular ground shipping and got it on Friday!!!!!!!!!!
