Just bought used 83 ranger 4x4 2.8 liter bringing it home the aluminum timing gear separated in the middle, rebuilding these parts, can I put a 5spd trans in this rig and what might be involved in this upgrade? Also there is a suspicious hole in the front of the block behind the timing cover about 10 a clock, 2" from center of upper timing gear shaft, about the size of 16-18 gauge wire, is this an oil port for the timing gears? Not familiar with this engine, Anyone with with experiences with this motor would be appreciated, thanks
