Body Lift Installation Questions
Just Ordered a 3" Body lift for my 94' F150 Shortbed 4x4 w/351. I was just wondering if i could get a few people to let me know exactly what i have to do to install the lift (what needs to be extended), and if i should be aware of anything. Also, the kit comes with fr. bumper brackets to raise it. How much of a pain is this? and what would you recommend i do with the back??? Thanks alof guys

From what I hear you'll need to add some hose for the fill pipes to the gas tank/s, brake lines to the frame will need to be worked on, the fan shroud will have to be moved down, the rear bumper, slide it up as far as you can get it and use some kind of filler panle below the tallgate. the front bumper will not be as strong as when it was stock with it's new lifted height due to extra leverage on the frame.
I have a 3" body lift on my '95 F250 and this is what I saw, I bought the truck this way. Only problem I have is with the 3" body lift and 2" susp lift I have to air down my tires to get in my shop. lol

how hard is it to notch the frame and raise it with the brackets in front, to raise the bumper. Will be able to do it by myself with a mig welder, grinder and cutoff wheel? Also, i heard a rumor that it was possible to flip the rear bumper brackets to raise it a little. Is there any truth to this? Do they literally just flip? thnx

On my Bronco, I had to extend the auto shift linkage, Modify my transfer case shifter, I went to electric fans so I did'nt have to worry about my fan shroud but you will. My E-brake cable is pulled tight, new fuel fill hose, Cut front horns on frame to raise the front bumper, modify back bumper to fit factory mounting points. If ya get the body mount bolts off, good. However they could be a problem. Let's not even get started about replacing the bushings, that can be scary!

On my truck there was 3 bolts per side holding the bumper to the frame. I basically raised the bumper and took the lowest hole on the bumper mounting plate and lined it up with the upper mounting hole on the frame. I had to widen the or heat up and bend the bumper mounting plate out a little bit. Then the bottom of my bumper back was resting right against the frame (factory bumper has tow plate)and tack welded it to the frame. I had to cut the plastic filler piece that covers between the body to bumper. It is not as close as it was, but pretty damn close!
