problems removing rotors - 1987, f150, 4x4, auto hubs
I'm having a heard time figuring how to remove my old rotors on my 1987, f150, 4x4, auto hubs, 351W, short bed truck. I was able to remove the cap holding the bearings on, and the c-clamp, but where do I go from there? Am I supposed to remove the locking nut inside or will the rotor come off by prying it off?
It's not a typical rotor removal by any means.
Thanks for any help you can give.

You have to remove everything inside the hub all the way to the axle nut, which holds the outer hub bearing in place so it spins effortlessly.
I've never tore apart an '87's hub but I'm guessing since it is an auto locking hub, there is a cam gear and some washers in front of that and a half "c" clip that snaps around the axle shaft which holds all that stuff in before you can get to the hub nut. When you get to the hub nut, it will probably take a big ol' socket with four prongs sticking out which engage into the hub nut. Oreilly's or Advanced should have one of these on hand for less than $20.
My advice to you would be to go buy a Hayne's ($15 at most parts stores) manual which has diagrams of most of Ford's hub assemblies and details about to complete the job right the first time.
Good Luck!! Let us know if you need more help!
