Brake Dust Repellent
I was amazed and a bit frightened by the amount of brake dust on my wheels after just driving my new EXPY home from the dealer last week (little over 100 miles). I knew it is going to be an issue. Well after reading this thread, I went out and bought the Michelin product and so far so good. It does seem to work pretty well.
As an aside I should also say that I am being careful not to brake hard and leave myself more time to brake instead of waiting to be on top of the light or stop sign before I start braking.

and, a little off topic.......we just bought my wife a used 2003 Volvo Cross Country. Previous owner did not take care of the aluminum wheels. Lots of built up black stuff. We have scrubbed and scrubbed and it's not coming off. I tried Mother's polish, no better.
Any suggestions on how to get this build up off? I also tried rubbing compoound though I noticed some light scratching so i stopped.

Ok I bought the Michelin brake dust stuff a couple of weeks ago and said I'd get back on how it works. Well it definatly helps but brake dust is still an issue. Front wheels are far worse than the rear.
Someone here mentioned they polished their mags with nufinish. I thought about that as it made a lot of sense the mags are coated with a clear paint at least on the lariat and FX series.
I really like nufinish it's not a wax per say but a chemical paint sealent goes on and off 100 times easier than say a carnuba wax and the initial shine is almost as good but what I really like about nufinish is it's durability 2 or 3 days in the hot sun and mothers carnuba seems to evaperate away somewhat and nufinish seems to last much longer and work harder.
OK back on topic I cleaned my mags last night and put nufinsh on the drivers side mags and Michelin dust repelant on the passenger side. I'll say this the nufinsh drivers side mags feel super slick just like a fresh wax and the Michelin passenger side only feel clean.
I am going to test this out for 3 or 4 weeks only cleaning the mags with a garden hose no brushing or soaps at all. I'll post back in a few weeks and hopefull get some pictures up to compare whats working and btw I do not drive my truck hard this brake dust is a real issue with the f150 if you like a clean truck like I do.

My brake dust has been minimal, since my wife and I got used to this truck. Still, any is to much on my shiny Lariat wheels, so I decided to get some KleenWheels for the truck. They arrived today, but I also bought some from another source for the rear, and they haven't arrived yet. Gonna rotate the tires, and put them on all four at the same time. I will post pictures when they go on, and I will let you know if there is any negative result of adding them.
