Question General Questions 2003 F-150 FX4

I have two questions for everyone

1) A guy at work here had to get his truck towed (98 expedition) and the shop told him the front end was nearly ready to fall apart. Its costing him $1000. The shop told him they see this all the time because ford doesn't put any grease zerks on their front end. I have a 2003. Has this been corrected with my truck? I hope so.

2) My truck has about 13,000 miles on it now. Every once in awhile i hear this whining noise comming from the front end when i make a turn. Is this normal? It seems to happen more often when its cold outside. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

thanks,
Ncage

? 2 is most likely to be the power steering pump. Every Ford F-150 I have been in makes this noise. Not sure about ? 1 maybe someone else will have the answer.
