my only question is..... if you can use a tuner (software) to get better gas mileage and better performance from the same stock hardware (engine, tranny. etc.) and it does't void your warranty and it's gauranteed not to harm your drivetrain then...................................
why the heck didn't Ford tune these trucks that way from the factory????
there has to be a mathmatical reason????
put another way.........what's the downside to using the tuners?

I wouldn't put a lot of stock in getting better MPG ... or bet on a guarantee of warranty! Factory tuning is likely not optimized for fuels higher than 87. And I'd guess they even accommodate crappy/marginal 87- blends, free/discount, old gas etc...!
So, if you used good blends and optimize on the better side of 87 or other levels via a tuner ... of course you'd see some better performance and possibly better MPG.
And they all allow you to return to the stock program! ... so ... ??? you can fill in the blanks on your "void" question or statement.
