3000 miles, so far so good

Well actually more than that, 3400 miles. I got it on 3/10/05 and I haven't done the first oil change yet. So far I love the truck. The ride is smooth and quiet, and of course that varies on the condition of the road surface. No vibrations of any kind yet, as for the bed shake problems, I can see the bed shake through my rearview mirror, not really concerned about it. Gas mileage has been between 15.5 and 17.6, respectively. Love the style of the seats but I think the fabric was better on my 97 F150 XLT. I don't like the coin slot on the dash, my 97 had a coin holder in the center armrest and it was far superior, why did they change it? I think the tan interior looks better than the flint one. The flint just looks too industrial. I love the door handle rests, nice and wide. According to the specs, this 05 is slightly narrower than the previous model, but inside it feels much wider, go figure. My 97 was a supercab so it's not really a fair comparison in terms of overall interior room. The lever to tilt the steering wheel is also rather awkward, preferred the old style on my 97. Overall I'm very pleased with it, sticker price on this one was 31,240, I got it for 26,028, I think it's a good deal, what do the rest of you think?

I have had my 05 supercab FX4 for 2 weeks have about 400 miles on her and she is going fine. I, like you feel I got a good deal and love the looks of the truck. At one point I thought I heard some strange noises but I think that is because I have read too many posts here, my mind is playing tricks on me.

I don't have the coin holder as I have a switch for the 4x4 there. All in all this is a nice truck and everyone comments on how nice it looks, have to see how she holds up over the long run.

Good luck.

Do yourself a favor, take a break from the negative posts and just enjoy your truck. When I first picked up my truck, I was reading the negative posts and started to believe that I was experiencing some of the same woes. Anyways, after returning from a 7-month trip to the box I failed to release the parking break(HMMWV's e-brakes are on the center console) and thought my truck had caught the dreaded vibration....Until I looked at the guage cluster and noticed the red exclamation point as my truck screamed, "you dumba$$!"

Not to take away from those with genuine problems, but there are plenty of folks here that don't have any problems and in my opinion, this tends to be the norm. 10k in 1.5 yrs and loving it....

Hey borderman, I am glad you are happy with your new truck. You are the first person I have noticed on here to mention how awkward the tilt mechanism is to use. Certainly not the kind of tilt wheel design you can move everytime you get in and out. Cumbersome and un-user-friendly. Set it once for reach and forget it. A shame too, because I have always liked the convience of a tilt wheel. Oh well, I love my truck so much I can overlook this one flaw in design. Plenty of room to get in and out anyway.

By the way, 10,000 trouble-free miles, I'm very pleased with this vehicle. 04 Lariat SCab.

I wanted to mention the bed shake is not a constant thing, it just happens from time to time. As for the first oil change, is it really a big deal? I wanted to wait till the 5k mark. I read the manual and saw nothing about a break in period to change the oil.

The sooner the better on the first oil change IMO. 3500 miles is great and that is probably just where you're at. Ruckus is steering you right.

I took my 04 S/Cab in for its second oil change on Wednesday. Just short of 6000 miles. Service included tire rotation. I haven't had any vibe problems. Mileage has increased to the 18.2 to 18.7 mpg-range. The truck is 2wd, 3.55 LS, 5.4 Triton.

04 larait screw with 5.4 and 373 ls 23k mostly trouble free miles and can't complain about the minor probs as dealership has taken care of them all . (rotors, tires and reflash of the computer) and a good bang for the buck upgrade is the airaid MIT intake tube 92 bucks and it seems to have made a big difference in the way this truck performs

Dam it, I spoke too soon and jinxed it. Yesterday on my way to work the engine starts missing. I stopped to gas up and made it work ok. When I got off duty and started it up, it continued to miss and the check engine light came on. I made it home ok, ticked off, but ok. I now have to wait till Monday morning to take it in . It feels like a cylinder is misfiring. The last time my old truck did the same thing, it was just a loose spark plug wire. Hopefully it won't take too long to fix. Not even the first oil change yet! While it's there I'll have them change the oil. Wish me luck guys.
